Beis Shmuel Shul (Halpern)

About

Reb Elchunen Halpern first opened Beis Shmuel in 1943. At the time so few Yidden lived in the area that occasionally, on Shabbos morning, the young Rav could be seen standing hopefully outside, waiting for a tzeinter. During a time of upheaval and uncertainty, Rav Chuna offered a warm and heimishe welcome. The minyan at Beis Shmuel began to grow, and soon moved from Oakfields Road to a flat in Alba Gardens.

In 1946, the small group of Reb Chuna’s devoted mispallelim recognised the need to expand, and purchased 171 Golders Green. Over the years and as the community grew the house next door was purchased, a Mikvah was built, and today the shul is a centre of Torah and Tefillo in Golders Green.
